Conference 2026 – Saturday 31 October: ‘Bound for Wales – conserving our migrant birds’
It’s here! The full programme for the 2026 Conference is now finalised. Bookings are now open for all – WOS members and Young Birders and non-members of all ages. Young Conservationist Bursaries are available for WOS Young Birders.

Conference 2025 brought another full house, with over 150 delegates enjoying a stimulating day of presentations, stalls and displays and the usual excellent Aberystwyth food (all vegetarian this time).
The 2024 Annual Conference – a record attendance and a great day
The 2024 conference took place at Aberystwyth University and broke records for attendance, with a vibrant buzz through the whole day.
About the WOS photo competition
WOS runs an annual bird photograph competition, which is open to members and non-members alike. For 2025 there are three categories: a Main section, open to all, a Mobile phone section, also open to all, and a Young Photographers section, open to photographers who are 21 years or younger on the closing date. There is one important change from the 2025 competition: the mobile phone category did not prove popular or generate outstanding pictures and it is being replaced by a Birds and People category.
