We are delighted to say that we have now recruited a new Editor for the Welsh Ornithological Society’s journal Milvus. (previously Birds in Wales and Welsh Birds). Milvus is the official journal of the Welsh Ornithological Society. WOS supports birdwatchers, ornithologists and bird groups across Wales; it funds and publishes grass roots conservation research work – especially by young people – and it stands up for Welsh birds and wildlife via engagement with other conservation organisations, the Welsh Government and its agencies. WOS is Wales’ only solely-Welsh based organisation to do this.
Three issues of Milvus are published per year, as standard, though additional Special Issues may be published, when appropriate. The first issue includes original papers dealing with various aspects of ornithology in Wales, by a wide range of authors, both academic and non-academic Issue no. 2 is published online only, and is primarily the report on Scarce and Rare Birds in Wales for the preceding year. This is currently edited by Jon Green. Issue no. 3 is mainly made up of the Welsh Bird Report for the preceding year, and is currently edited by Julian Hughes. The work of the Editor of Milvus is mainly concerned with Issue no. 1, though it does also involve contact with the editors of the other two issues.
Previous editions of the various issues of Milvus, and its predecessor Birds in Wales, can be found on our website https://birdsin.wales/milvus/
