We are very pleased to award three small grants towards 2021 research – we received high quality applications and look forward to the results.
The three successful applicants and the projects supported are given below.
- Scarce woodland birds, especially Hawfinch. The effectiveness of remote audio units (AudioMoths) to detect scarce woodland birds. This technology will be used to complement observer-based surveys and increase the coverage of these surveys. (Richard Facey and Dr Rob Thomas – Cardiff University).
- A detailed study of the breeding ecology of the Tree Pipit in Blaengarw, East Glamorgan to identify some of the optimal habitat requirements for this declining Trans-Saharan migrant passerine. (Aurora Gonzala Tarodo and Shanice Arkless)
- Thermal imaging technology to support nest recording and ringing in East Glamorgan. (Fledgemore Nest Recording Group – Wayne Morris)
