Steve Stansfield grew up in industrial Yorkshire and has spent his whole adult life working at Bird Observatories, initially at Sandwich Bay from 1990, before moving to North Ronaldsay in 1993 and then Bardsey in 1998, where he has been Warden and Director of Operations ever since. He is currently the Chair of the Bird Observatories Council, is the editor of their Newsletter and produces Bardsey’s Wildlife report. He was co-author/editor of the 2^nd edition of the Bird Observatories of Britain and Ireland. As a widely travelled and avid birder, he has found many rare birds, which has given him the background knowledge for his role on the WBRC, of which he has been a member since 2006 and Chair since 2012.
