An impressive 166 entries, featuring 86 different species, for our first photo competition – we are delighted with your responses. There were many superb entries: so many that a lot of great photos didn’t make the final shortlists from our three judges. But there was little argument about Iolo Williams’ choice of our final overall winner – a lovely daytime shot of a Tawny Owl partly concealed in its surroundings, which just pipped Jason Hornblow’s beautifully constructed study of a Dipper feeding a recently fledged juvenile. And little argument about Keith Noble’s lovely cheeky Woodpigeon in the humorous section – and great to see common birds reflected also in our Junior Section winner, Brooke Paterson’s attractive and delightfully titled picture of a young cygnet.
