Giles was elected a trustee at the 2015 AGM and re-elected for a second five year term in 2020. A BTO member for more than 50 years, he has served on the BTO Ringing & Migration Committee and BTO Council. He is Secretary of the Clwyd Bird Recording Group and a keen ringer. Giles manages the WOS website and is a member of the WOS Communications Group.
