Bird-recording in Wales is based largely on the Watsonian vice-county system. However, East Glamorgan is treated as a separate recording area from Gower by WOS and local bird recorders, and also includes the southern part of Brecknockshire around Llwyn-Onn reservoir. East Glamorgan VC41b covers Bridgend, Rhondda/Cynon Taf, Vale of Glamorgan, Cardiff, Merthy Tydfil and the western part of Caerphilly unitary authorities.
