Hannah Coburn is a PhD student based at the University of Essex working on Mallard population dynamics and she runs a citizen science project which aIl WOS members can easily get involved in. Part of her research involves investigating the duckling survival rate of the UK Mallard population – we know surprisingly little about our most common duck species! To gather data on this she has developed DucklingWatch, a simple survey in which participants can record information on the mallard broods they come across.
