You nominated the breeding Savi’s Warblers at Cors Ddyga your Wales Bird of the Year in 2019

Your nominations clearly showed that WOS members are more than a collection of twitchers and rarity chasers! Whilst WBRC members were divided between Orphean Warbler (2nd Welsh record), Myrtle Warbler (3rd Welsh record), Buff Bellied Pipit (1st Welsh record) the most  nominations came in for Savi’s Warbler first breeding success in Wales at Cors Ddyga.

Multiple nominations also came for Alpine Swift, including one seen unexpectedly through the kitchen window whilst the observer was washing up and other favourites included the Llyn Brenig Great Grey Shrike, the first inland record of Cetti’s Warbler in north-east Wales, found in a mistnet at Rhydymwyn, Dotterel on the Great Orme, Parrot Crossbill and Yellow-browed Warbler.

It’s just been a bit of light-hearted fun, but thanks to all members who responded with their stories and nominations.

Current login problems

A quick message to all members:  we are currently changing our membership system and that means new passwords for all members.   Letters giving you the new details are on their way but may take a bit longer than usual to arrive.   In the meantime, you may have problems logging in to the membership areas.

Due to these problems we have made all membership areas accessible without logging in for the time being.

If you are having ongoing problems please contact the membership secretary with your login details and problems.

Apologies for the timing of changing passwords and arrival of letters has not happened in quite the right sequence. Thank you for your continued support of Welsh Ornithological Society.
