Emma-Louise Cole was co-opted as a WOS trustee in 2021. She moved to Swansea to read a BSc in Zoology in 2012 and has since remained in Wales where she achieved a research Masters in Biological Sciences and presently works as a researcher for Swansea University. Her work explores the nature of interactions between diving seabirds and tidal energy devices, using sophisticated data-loggers. She has been an active participant of the Welsh birding community for some time which initially stemmed from her involvement with BTO Cymru as the University’s ambassador, and training with the Gower Ringing Group. She has been a past recipient of the Derek Moore Student award (2015) for her dissertation on the breeding biology of chick-rearing Honey Buzzards.
