Events for birdwatchers in Wales
Sunday 5th January – Whiteford & Llanridian (F) 4 HT 13:43. Always a good start to the new year with plenty of waders, ducks, and geese, and hopefully divers and grebes. Llanrhidian may have Hen Harrier and Owls.
Field Meetings (F) – Please contact John Wilson (email@example.com) before the due date. Bring packed lunch and suitable clothing/footware. Participants may be expected to car share. The meeting place in Cardiff for many trips is St Margaret’s Road in Whitchurch, Cardiff – We meet at the A4054 end.
Please note though, that due to the difficulty of getting to St Margaret’s Rd mid week mornings, esp for the leader, mid week trips will normally be meet at the location.
Tuesday 7th January – Review of 2019 (I) – A new venture to replace the Member’s Own,. We’ll be looking at highlights of the past year.
Indoor Meetings (I) – These are generally held on the first Tuesday of the month during the winter months. Start 7.45pm in the Kenfig National Nature Reserve’s Visitor Centre, Kenfig. Contact Paul Denning (01443 202607) for details.
Monthly Walks (Kenfig NNR) – 2-3 – These take place on the third Saturday of each month. Note the non-running of the one due on Sat 21st April 2018 – see list below. Meet at the Reserve Centre at 9.00a.m. and run to 12:00 at the latest. Contact Strinda Davies for details or alternatively Dave Carrington (07790939743).

Scarce & Rare Birds Archive
Spoonbills were at NWC Llanelli (Carmarthen) on 2nd and from 18th-19th, RSPB Cors Ddyga (Anglesey) from 3rd-21st and two were at NWR (Gwent) on 3rd. The GLOSSY IBIS was seen at NWR (Gwent) on 4th. A Cattle Egret was at NWC (Carmarthen) from 5th-24th. The RING-NECKED DUCK was seen again on Llyn Bran (Denbighshire) on 28th.
